So once again another early start, so got up super early before sunrise and got a couple of pictures of the dawn sky, but was very cool at that time of day, to use to the hot weather now. After a quick breakfast we headed out on the last day of the trip, and along the Great Ocean Road proper, according to Todd.
First stop up was a walk down Gibsons Steps and on to the beach although decided not to have paddle today looked a bit to cold, for my tastes I will just stick to the nice sandy beach. Then we headed off to the Otway Fly which is on the edge of the Otway National Park, this is where you can get to walk up in the trees and been up in the top layers of the branches, the platforms go up to a height just over 30 meters and they have a tower in the middle which you can climb, this is 47 meters high and swayed gently in the bit of breeze.
We then headed off through the top off the national park onto Apollo Bay for a quick lunch stop, and a look around. Then hugging the coastline we carried on passing through various small towns along the way. We stopped at Kennett River and got off the bus to try and find some koalas and parrot’s, the parrots were easy to find as Todd had bought some bird seed which attracted them across to us, soon various people in our group had parrots sat on top of their heads and shoulders. We then walked up the road a bit further in order to spot the koalas lying in the trees.
Then we carried on making our way up to the world famous Bells Beach, although as it was very clam along the coast the waves out in the bay were not that big although there was quite a few people out on the water. Then we made our way along to Torquay, which looked nothing like the Torquay at home and had a wander around the big shopping center they have next to Rip Curl’s head office. Then it was back into Melbourne to be dropped back at Nomads Industry, no problems checking in this time as they knew us.
